Are you linking to your social media from your blog?
You should.
I love to read blogs, and ever so often, I come across a personality I absolutely adore that I must stalk that person on all the social medias so I don’t miss a funny. Many of these blogs do not link to their social media. Some have social media pages they just aren’t linking to; others are not on social media under their blog’s name.
You want to make your social media links easy to find so people can follow you everywhere you post on the internet.
1. Everyone else is doing it.
2. People often turn to their social media more so than email for reading blog posts.
3. The numbers matter when it comes to anything money, whether it’s publishing or sponsorship.
You never know when the CEO of Nike is going to be inspired by your blog post on jogging and wants to contact you with a deal to just do it on tv for their commercial for a lot of money. Or maybe the President of the United States happens to run across your blog and thinks your opinion of gun control is so intriguing, he wants to follow you on Facebook to get more political ideas. But most importantly, some girl you never heard of, Michelle, that’s me, might find your blog and think you are cool and want to see your selfies at the pool, and without a link to your Facebook, I’ll be living without your selfies.
Where do you put social media icons?
The blog norm of social media icons is to have just the icons linking to your profile somewhere in a sidebar, or the header. The sidebar should also have a place to enter an email to subscribe to your blog. You may also repeat this information on your Contact Me page.

WordPress has some plug-ins to directly link to social media, for both sharing and for the little doohickey list on the sidebar that leads to your social media. I use Easy Social Icons on Crumpets and Bollocks.
